All students interested in auditioning must complete a BCPS magnet programs application. Please be advised that the application portal will close at 11:59 pm on February 2nd, 2024.
Auditions for the 2024-2025 school year will be conducted in person and applicants are required to create a pre-screening video as a pre-requisite for the audition. This applies to both jazz and concert band applicants.
The pre-screening video includes the applicant performing the required major scales and chromatic scale on their respective instrument. Once completed, the video should be uploaded as 'unlisted' on YouTube. Send the link to your unlisted video info@dillardbands.com. Pre-screening videos are due February 16th, 2024.
Auditions will be scheduled upon reception of a pre-screening video. During the virtual audition the applicant will perform the required prepared piece, sight-read and participate in a short interview. You will be contacted individually with more information regarding your audition time slot once we have reviewed your pre-screening video but you should be preparing the audition piece immediately.
Detailed examples of the pre-screening process can be viewed below. Please review the audition requirements before submitting a pre-screening video.
Don't hesitate to contact us with any questions, comments or concerns.

Students must be five years old by September 1st to enter kindergarten. All students will demonstrate good conduct. At the secondary level, academic/talent entrance criteria have been established for admission to each Magnet Program as a means of promoting student success.
The School Board of Broward County is committed to providing settings for education that promote understanding of diversity, tolerance and fair play, so that the positive tenets of a democratic society are reinforced by what students experience in schools. In the Broward County Public Schools, diversity is broadly defined to include students of different genders, of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, of various socioeconomic circumstances, those who speak English as a second language, and those who have exceptional and special needs.
Applicants applying to elementary who have a sibling (brother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, stepbrother or stepsister, living in the same household) attending the Magnet School, and who will continue to attend that school the next year, will be placed in the Magnet School on a space available basis prior to placement of other applicants. Siblings must apply to a Magnet School in order to be considered. Applications must be submitted by the February 12, 2024 deadline, for sibling priority placement.
